Be accurate for the perfect fit...

Accuracy and truth telling is essential here!

A friend may also be useful at this point!

Take the most accurate measurements you can as this will ensure a good fit from your corset.

Use a flexible tape measure and record in centimetres. The tape measure wants to be snug around where you are measuring, not loose and not too tight.

Wear your most comfortable well fitting bra in which you like the shape/cleavage it gives you (make a note of the desired effect with your measurements).

Have a washable pen to hand so you can mark on your skin to aid the accuracy of your measurement taking.

1. Natural waist:

This is usually the narrowest point around your torso. Make a mark on your skin for you to reference this point later.

2. Under bust:

This is around your ribcage directly under the bust.

3. Bust:

Take this measurement around the fullest part of your bust over your most comfortable well fitting bra that provides your desired shape.

4. Over bust:

Take this 2.5cm above the bust measurement you just took for 3.

5. Top hip:

Circumference under the waist, usually around the top of where the hip bone is, mark with the pen to reference later.

6. Lower hip:

This is the fullest part of the hips, fairly low, mark with the pen.

7. Bust points:

Distance between your nipples, measure this distance whilst wearing your comfortable well fitting bra to give desired cleavage etc

8. Waist to bust:

Hold the top of the tape at the fullest point of your bust, let it hang and then hold it against the waist to create a straight diagonal line from bust to waist - this line is the measurement needed

9. Waist to under bust:

This is the vertical distance between the waist and the under bust

10. Waist to top hip:

This is the vertical distance between the waist and the level you marked as top hip. This measurement should be straight down the front of your body not curving around the side.

11. Waist to lower hip:

Same as 10. but lower down to lower hip mark.

12. Curved bust:

The distance from your under bust to the point of your nipple following the curve upwards.

13. Height above bust:

Measure how far you want your corset to come up above the point of your nipple, if you want it to stop at nipple height write 0.

14. Side length above waist:

Measure starting from your waist up to how high you would like the sides to come. This helps to get a comfortable fit under your arms

15. Side length below waist:

Same as above but this time measure from your waist down to where you want your corset to stop.

16. Centre back length:

If you are unsure leave this blank or mark a rough measurement with ? This will be the length down the back where it laces.

17. Centre front length:

If you are unsure leave this blank or mark a rough measurement with ? This will be the length of the busk down the front.

18: Desired waist:

This may depend on the purpose of your corset. If this is your first corset or you want light support; 2.5cm -10cm smaller than your natural waist would be recommended. This is also dependant on how much give your waist has. Experiment by pulling the tape measure remembering that the tape will dig much more than your corset which will distribute the pull. If you wear corsets more often, try the same size or 2.5cm - 5cm smaller.

DO NOT TRY TO LACE DOWN TOO FAR OR TOO QUICKLY...
